  • 1 large onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 large cabbage

  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp paprika

First, we need to prepare the bacon. For this chop the bacon slices into chunks and fry them until crunchy in a pan. For keeping the bacon crunchy you need to fry it and let them remain crispy. Remove it from the pan and cook the cabbage separately. If you cook the bacon for a long time it becomes soft which is not too appetizing for eating. Use the same pan with bacon grease to cook the cabbage. It ensures that the cabbage is infused with the meaty smoky flavor of bacon.

Now heat the butter in the pan and once it melts, add the diced onions to it. Cook them until they are soft for 3-4 minutes. Stir it often to prevent burning. Now add the minced garlic and cook for a couple of minutes till you get a nice aroma.

Its time to add cabbage to the pan and mix everything well. Add salt as per your taste and let the cabbage cook for 10 minutes. Let it reduce to half and cook it until all the moisture has evaporated. Stir it well to avoid sticking or burning. Only after there is minimum moisture left add the bacon to this mix. Once you see the cabbage turning translucent and shiny add the other herbs and spices and toss it well. The cabbage will start turning brown and this is when your dish is ready to be served.
